Our Thanks To “The Mount”!
SHIP wishes to thank the Mount St. Mary’s University administration for allowing us to use their premises for this event.
“The Mount” is a private, liberal arts, Catholic university in the Catoctin Mountains near historic Emmitsburg, Maryland. The campus includes the second largest Catholic seminary in the United States, where future priests study in the Ordination/Master of Divinity program. Lay students can pursue a Master of Theology Arts at the seminary.
Mount St. Mary’s University is a private institution that was founded in 1808. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 1,795, its setting is rural, and the campus size is 1,400 acres.
At the Maryland Endurance Challeng’s starting location, you’ll be able to see the Mount’s award-winning solar farm. Information about the farm, by the numbers:
* * 17.7-megawatt system
* * 220,000 solar panels
* * Will produce more than 20 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year
* * Includes a 1.6-megawatt system to power 90 percent of the Mount’s athletic complex and wastewater treatment plant
* * 160,000 hours of construction work and 165 jobs
